CHS Scholarships

Clarenville High School in partnership with the CHS scholarship trust foundation each year awards over $19000.00 to graduating students.

Dr. Ronan O’Shea Memorial Scholarship (G. B. CROSS MEDICAL STAFF ASSOCIATION) - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who has undertaken study in a Health Sciences program leading to professional qualification.  The scholarship is presented in memorial to Dr. Ronan O’Shea whose dedication to his work and the community were an inspiration to all.

               

ROY COLE HONOURARY SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies. Presented in honour of Mr. Roy Cole,   former principal of Clarenville High School, who served the foundation with distinction and was integrally involved in its growth.

 

CLARENVILLE ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP - $400

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence and is enrolled in a non-university program.

 

Clarenville High Scholarship - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies and has achieved Academic Excellence, particularly in Advanced Math 3200.

 

DR. BLAINE PEARCE / DR. PAULA PYE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence in Biology 2201/3201 and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

LARRY GLADNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence in Physics 2204/3204 and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

J-1 Contracting SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence in Chemistry 2202/3202 and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

Clarenville High Scholarship - $250  

Awarded to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence in Earth Systems 3209 and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

NEWFOUNDLAND POWER AWARD - $250

Awarded to a graduate who is environmentally conscious and has demonstrated such through his/her leadership, involvement and activities at Clarenville High.

 

DR. HAROLD CREWE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved academic success and is attending a post-secondary institution.

 

TOTAL CARE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is registered at a post-secondary institution in the field of nursing.

 

LIONS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 2 awards @ $500

Awarded annually to two graduates who have achieved academic excellence, a positive attitude, and were involved in a recognized community based volunteer activity.

BRENDAN POWER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who has the respect of teachers and students and demonstrates a love/enjoyment of the outdoors.

 

THE Frank Collins Honorary SCHOLARSHIP - $1000

Awarded annually to a graduate for academic excellence and community service.  Presented by the Board of Directors of the Clarenville Area Co-op in honour of Frank Collins, whose vision and energy as a teenager led to the establishment of the Co-op Society in our area.  This graduate must be the child of a Co-op member.

 

HALLERAN  Inc. SCHOLARSHIP - $350

Awarded annually to a graduate who is enrolled in post secondary education and who has achieved excellence in World Studies.

 

ST. JUDE HOTEL SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who realizes his/her academic potential through hard work, commitment and a positive attitude.

 

Clarenville Area Citizen’s Crime Prevention Scholarship - $250

Awarded to a graduate who achieves academic excellence and is enrolled in post secondary study in the area of justice or social work.

 

MUN ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP – $250 (2 SCHOLARSHIPS)

Awarded to a graduate who is attending Memorial University.

 

MILLS, PITTMAN & TWYNE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is enrolled in some post-secondary institution in the area of the arts and humanities.

 

DAVID SNOW CHARTERED ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.  The recipient will be enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

 

Clarenville High Scholarships - 6 @ $250

Awarded for academic achievement through outstanding effort.

 

CHS Teachers Scholarship - $250

This Student has been recognized by teachers as being a hard worker and a positive person.              

 

ROBERT J. HORWOOD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence and is pursuing post secondary study leading to a career in Teaching.  Presented by the Horwood High 2006 Reunion committee in honor of Robert J. Horwood who was the first principal of the predecessor of Clarenville High School from 1957-1961.

 

CLIFFORD FORWARD SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence, a positive attitude, and a commitment to enhancing the overall atmosphere and quality of student life at Clarenville High.

Presented by the Scholarship Trust Foundation in honour of Clifford Forward who was integrally involved in the establishment of the foundation.

CRAIG’S LOCKSMITHING LTD. SCHOLARSHIP -  2 @  $250

Awarded to a graduate who realizes his/her academic potential through hard work, commitment and a positive attitude.  Must be enrolled in a post secondary program in Skilled Trades or Technology

 

SCOTIABANK SCHOLARSHIP (Clarenville Branch) - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is dedicated, committed and a forward thinker. 

 

BRUCE’S RECREATION SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

CLARENVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is enrolled in a post secondary Business program.

 

GEORGE MARTIN SCHOLARSHIP (CHS Student Council) - $250

Awarded annually for academic excellence and participation in co-curricular activities.

 

BETTY BLACKMORE MEMORIAL AWARD - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is a resident of the municipality of Clarenville and displays an interest in the community by volunteer activities within the school and the community.

 

DR. GEOFFREY BAILEY SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who is registered in a post-secondary program that can lead to a BFA degree in either Visual Arts, Theatre Arts or Musical Theatre. 

                               

LIFETOUCH SCHOOL STUDIO SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved overall excellence and demonstrated leadership and commitment to the Physical Education program and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

PINSENT FAMILY ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS – 2 @ $500

These scholarships are awarded annually to a male and female student who have displayed leadership, commitment to academics, strong work habits, and consistent attendance at school.

 

DR. DEAN HALLERAN SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies.  Presented by the Scholarship Trust Foundation in honour of Dr. Dean Halleran who served with distinction as chairman of the Trust Foundation board of directors and was integrally involved in the growth of the foundation.  

 

GEORGE DUPONT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies and has achieved Academic excellence in Late French Immersion.

 

ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIP -  2 @ $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved excellence in academics, attendance, and attitude and is pursuing post secondary studies.

COMPASS GROUP INC. SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who is pursuing post secondary studies and has achieved Academic excellence in Core French.

 

CLARENVILLE FORD & MERCURY SALES SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded annually to a graduate who has achieved excellence in English and is pursuing post secondary studies.

 

MERCER’S MARINE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who realizes his/her academic potential through hard work, commitment and a positive attitude.

 

REMAX REALTY (Joe Wells) Scholarship - $250

Awarded to a graduate who achieves academic excellence while participating in co-curricular and volunteer activities.

 

CABOT HOME CENTRE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who is enrolled in a college Business program.

 

CORMACK REBEKAH LODGE Scholarship - $250

Awarded to a graduate who has achieved academic excellence and is enrolled in post secondary studies.        

 

CLARENVILLE HOME HARDWARE SCHOLARSHIP - $250

Awarded to a graduate who is enrolled in a post secondary program in skilled trades.

 

SubC Control Scholarship - $1000.00

Awarded to graduating students who went on to study at the post-secondary level and were involved with the Robotics team. 

 

Provincial High School Volunteer Award. 

This award recognizes the exceptional volunteer efforts of a student from each school in the province.  By celebrating the difference one person can make, we hope to encourage others to do the same.

 

The Brad Hiscock Memorial Award - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who is active within the Varsity athletics program at Clarenville High School. Presented in memory of Clarenville High graduate Brad Hiscock, the recipient of this scholarship will display a friendly attitude and enjoy being a Clarenville High Cougar to the fullest. 

 

The Patrick Adams Memorial Scholarship - $500

Awarded annually to a graduate who exemplifies academic excellence and student leadership.  Presented in memory of Clarenville High graduate Patrick Adams.

 

CLARENVILLE MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP - $500

Awarded annually to the graduate who has achieved the highest academic average and subsequently is awarded the Governor General’s Medal for Academic Excellence.

 

CHS Scholarship Trust Foundation SCHOLARSHIP - $250.00  (4)

Awarded to graduates in the general program who achieved excellence in academics, attendance and attiude.
